Rooms will be reserved for each team to use for the duration of the contest. Look out for the email in late December or early January!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-mudd-highlighted-content wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fun Fact!<\/strong> Many of our students do exceptionally well in the MCM\/ICM Competition. In 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2024\/05\/14\/harvey-mudd-is-top-u-s-team-in-international-math-modeling-competition\/\">one team<\/a> placed in the Top 18 out of 10,000 teams participating in the ICM. If you do, your team will be disqualified!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Putnam Exam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Putnam Competition is an annual competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, usually held the first Saturday in December. Students interested in taking it should watch for an e-mail announcing registration in the Fall. There&#8217;s also an associated problem-solving class called the Putnam Seminar (Math 93), whose goal is to have fun, but a side-benefit is preparing for the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-mudd-highlighted-content wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fun Fact!<\/strong> In 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmc.edu\/about\/2024\/03\/01\/harvey-mudd-students-participate-in-putnam-competition\/\">one<\/a> of our students earned Honorable Mention for placing 49th overall.
